“There is no joy in Mudville…”

“There is no joy in Mudville…”After a dismal 9-18 September the Atlanta Braves have been officially eliminated from the major league baseball playoff post-season.

In some ways, that is very disappointing. After all, it is natural to support your favorite team and every fan wants their team to win the “big one.”

The fact of the matter is that the injury riddled Braves were destined to be eliminated at some point, even if they had managed to squeak into the fall finals.

But our affinity with sports is buried deep into our culture, and somehow the successes or failures of people playing silly games are somehow very important to our collective welfare and are allotted levels of significance far beyond reality.

Such is life. We often let things that are totally out of our control interfere with our well-being.

Our time and efforts need to be focused on our own metaphorical “pennant race” which is ongoing and continues for the rest of our lives.

And we need to wake up every morning ready to play!

In today’s real estate market, there are only two kinds of sellers. Those that have the ability to sell at market price and those that do NOT. Every seller wants to sell, but many are burdened by mortgages far in excess of the value of the… more
