What is the future of the Internet? Where are we going from here? The future of the Internet is really anyone’s guess, but there is one thing that most pundits seem to agree on, and that is, that the static page is going to diminish in importance relative to active content.

Web surfers are motivated by two key factors. They want to easily find the information that they want and they want it delivered in an effortless way that doesn’t require a lot of user intervention.

The only thing holding back more active media content development is search engine indexing. As long as the typed word is indexed more readily than the spoken word, the Internet will remain more of a library than a theater.

The future of the “Internet” will see the diminishing of importance of domain names and websites and instead information will be archived based solely on actual content and the method of delivery, and nothing else.

And it will be harder and harder for the small, independent players to compete.
